Salmonella enterica (formerly Salmonella choleraesuis) is facultative Gram-negative bacterium member of the genus Salmonella. It is the cause of disease Salmonellosis. There are over 2 500 known serovars of S. enterica known, the most dangerous for humans are Salmonella Typhimurium, Salmonella Enteritidis, Salmonella Paratyphi, Salmonella Typhi or Salmonella Choleraesuis.
